Strange, all this.

The Conservatives are about to go on a spending spree.

It is already planning spending lots of money on big vanity projects like HS2, a new Hinkley nuclear power station, and even a new airport runway. The runway is said to be essential for the country so it obviously has to be at Heathrow. Now the new Chancellor, Philip Hammond, is in favour of spending more money on houses and transport and on infrastructure, as part of a plan of economic management. This, of course, is the right thing to do, so it's whoops and cheers and pats on the back all round. The media if absolutely in favour and falling all over itself in its praise for the plans.

But what is this? Not long ago pledges were made to include bringing about full employment, job security through strong employment rights and an NHS free of any private sector influence. Another pledge was to create good quality jobs by investing £500bn in infrastructure, manufacturing, new industries and house building, and for it all to be supported by a publicly owned national investment bank. All of these were attacked by the media. Where was the money coming from? Borrowing? Typical spend, spend, spend! Well of course it was all wrong. Why? It came from Corbyn and labour.

Two almost identical plans, but one brilliantly good the other shockingly terrible.

The only real difference between the two is that Labour is not keen on HS2 or Heathrow3. British media objectivity at its finest.
