Heathwick or Gathrow?

Or both.

A spokesman for Gatwick says it will go for a second runway even if Heathrow gets the green ligh for a third.

Step up a spokesman for the Airport Operators Association (AOA). He says that the country (UK) needs another runway to show the world it is open for business following Brexit.

So, the country needs it, eh? So that could be anywhere from Land's End to John O'Groats and Great Yarmouth to Strabane then. Oh, what am I saying? He does not mean the country, he means M25land.

If these spokesmen and politicians and campaigners mean London needs a new runway then say London. Do not pretend it is for the country even though we will be expected to pay for it.

Build it at Gatwick and improve the transport links to London.

BUT. Places like Northumberland have been left behind, and Scotland. When you get past Newcastle the A1 to Scotland is mostly a single lane road! Unacceptable, but I think it's a case of out of sight, out of mind.

No! If it truly is for the country then London has enough runways already - Heathrow, Gatwick, Luton and Stansted.

If the UK, the country, needs a new runway, build it near one of its other major cities - Birmingham, Manchester, Belfast, Glasgow, Edinburgh or Leeds.

That will never happen because of the London-centric attitude of government and big business.

Yep I'm for Birmingham. Right after they deliver HS2 so that all those people who want to get to London can get there.... :P :P :P :P :P

Personally I'd vote for one of the disused master diversion airfields in Norfolk or Lincolnshire. Then they could update the East Coast rail links to high speed. For a change...

Other than that if it has to be London I'd say the Thames Estuary and at least let the rest of us use it without having to be a slave to London commuting.
