Will these legal attempts to stop the will of the people

Postby Suff » 07 Nov 2016, 17:56

Never end?

Now the CPS is mulling a complaint that the Leave campaigns lied.

Yeah right and the Remain told the open and honest truth. That the government, the BOE and even the chambers of commerce are all going back on because their "predictions" have been proven (so far), nothing other than rhetoric to scare people into voting to remain.

I'm truly and honestly sick of it.

From the moment Cameron promised the referendum I thought it would be a mess.

* He did not need to do it. It was done to garner votes to win an election. There were no legal or political reasons for it, but it was popular.

* He did not make it legally binding, but advisory. That mistake has led to all these bl00dy challenges.

* He said he would trigger A50 the day after the result. Instead he ran away. Had he kept to his promise all these challenges would not be worth a bean.

* We Remainers knew what we were getting. We were living it daily, and Cameron came back from Brussels with a sheet of Chamberlain paper saying pretty much that things would go on as they were, but with just a few tweaks here and there.

* Leave were never made to define, in detail, what 'Leave' meant. Brexit voters did not have a core set of policies, set in stone, to vote on. All they had were their own interpretations of what leaving would entail and a hope that some of their wishes would be delivered.

With things being so nebulous it is no surprise that there are calls for the Law to be clarified, and, surprise surprise, it is only lawyers who will benefit.

I am sick of all the delays, we are already four months behind schedule.

Personally I'm now leaning to the opinion that

The government does not appeal the court ruling
The government sets up a bill which says they will trigger A50 in March, won't tell the parliament what the negotiating stance is and that parliament will get to say Yes/No at the 11th hour where Yes is Yes and No is the hardest brexit.

Make it a vote of confidence and when they vote it down, make the MP's face the public and explain why they won't give the public their will....

That's all I want now. Cameron faced the public and lost. Now I want the MP's to face the wrath of the public.

Then we can trigger A50 and get on with it.

I'm also beginning to reach the opinion that the ONLY way out is to just walk without a deal then slap 75% taxes on the EU goods until the EU comes up with a free trade deal. We may be WTO, but that does not mean we can't create a specific tax penalty for a specific country. The EU And China are WTO and the EU have been slapping non WTO tariffs on China for a while now.

It'll hurt for a while, but the EU is not going to perpetuate that situation without coming to the table to negotiate and the only negotiation we need is free trade without free movement of people.

That would be my stance now.

I have though that for a while now. A single page bill, no legalese, just a simple choice - go with us and the people or go home. It does what the High court said should be done and there would be no need for an appeal. There are rumours that this is what is being worked on for when May gets home. As the referendum was part of the winning party's election manifesto it, in practice, means that the Hol could not vote it down.

I raised a petition to do exactly this. I'm pushing it out to family for the 5 votes it needs to go live.
