The Grand Tour

Has almost got me thinking about revisiting my monthly Amazon Prime Video....

Notably the BBC is trying to keep a sweet face on the sour grapes. Clarkson is "unleashed" in terms of invective and narrative. Yep he'll offend some but he'll give no end of pleasure to others.

I'm interested to see, in the long run, just how much money it makes Amazon. The BBC made about £50m a year. My suspicion is that direct viewing alone will net Amazon more than that. They are getting audiences from multiple countries in one go and may net as much as £100m a year or more.

I'm sure that once they know how much they've made, Clarkson will find some way of rubbing the BBC's nose in it.

Hello! Boring old dinosaur here. Freeview gives me all that I need. Thank you.

By the time it got ditched Top Gear had become stale and formulaic. It was still good and often a laugh-out-loud programme, but it needed a lift. From what I have seen from the trailers in Amazon's adverts it is pretty much the same. However, given Amazon's global reach it will not take a large percentage of their viewers to login for them to make money.

We've re-subscribed but we've done it on the monthly payment method rather than paying out for the entire year, that way we can cancel it once The Grand Tour has finished.
Having said that though, I'm getting a lot of use out of the music streaming part of Prime and also free deliveries.
