Petrol price rise.

The RAC is predicting a rise of 4p/ltr and it is all down to hurricane Harvey - the second "once in 500 years" weather event to hit the US in 13 years.

There have also been recent "weather events" in Sierra Leone, and Niger, downpours, landslides and floods, and overabundant monsoons affecting Nepal, Bangladesh, India and Myanmar. The number of people estimated to have been directly affected is something like 65 million.

This time it is the rains, the next time it will be drought, then rain, drought.

The rise in petrol is mainly down to spivs as there is a glut of the stuff, and we will cope. But as these "events" increase in strength and frequency they will affect food production and even drive people from their homelands.

The thing about the petrol is that we feel it in our pockets directly: now. The other things are coming. It might be years, or possibly decades, before they really bite, but when they do our wallets wont save us.
