The Speaker of the House of Commons has spoken......
... and he says that it is "absurd" that the HoL is almost twice as big as the Commons.
He says that it should be cut to below 400, that it is mainly elected and that its working practices (signing-in, expenses, number of sessions attended) be revamped. He also thinks that it will happen, just not any time soon.
Reading various comments it appears to chime with the feelings of the public. Some proposals go even further... ail the way to doing away with the HoL completely.
Is there a sea change coming?
