Antisemitism.

Postby Workingman » 31 Mar 2018, 21:19

It is wrong, we all know that, we have been told, but do we know what it is?

Is it the irrational hatred of the Jewish race and who are they? Hebrews, Canaanites, Ethiopians, Jordanians. If so it is obviously wrong. We cannot hate someone because of their birthright, they had no choice.

Is it the hatred of Judaism, the religion? If it is we are in murky waters. There are many people from many races (ethnicities) who follow Judaism. Why should anyone not dislike the said religion. I dislike Islam, well all religions, but others dislike Christianity, Hinduism, Shintoism... we cannot all be wrong.

Or is it a dislike of the State of Israel? I suspect that a lot of modern day "antisemitism" is against the actions of Israel, the state. As such is it not the antisemitism currently being complained about.

We need to be very clear about this. I know many Jews who I dislike, but I support Israel, yet all those who do not feel the same way are not antisemites in the traditional sense. It is similar to those who are tarred as Islamophobic because of their hatred of the actions of IS but who are not totally against Islam.

I'm confused, too,

I used to think it was either because it was Jews who crucified Jesus, or because they had a reputation
for being good at obtaining money in various ways. I don't know.

I think anyone has the right to hate anyone or any group of people if they wish, but it seems that one has
to keep one's dislikes to ones self. I'm not sure if I fully sgree with this - 'Sticks and stones' comes to mind.

There are 3 million Muslims in the UK and 300,000 Jews.

The radical Right has been demonised since WWII.

However National Socialism was a Left Wing movement. Stalin and his communists murdered more Russians than Hitler.

The radical Left has never faced the same scrutiny or backlash as the radical Right.

Is it any wonder that Labour has this problem??? Not really.

Do I think they can sort it out? Not at all. They draw in this kind of problem.
