Advertising Standards Agency (ASA)

The ASA is going to ban adverts that stereotype.... So, a woman not being able to park a car or a man unable to change a nappy type ads will be banned.

OK, but will all the multi-ethnic, havens of happiness, perfect family ads have to go - especially government ones? And what about the women can only look beautiful if they use this wrinkle cream containing these pseudo scientific ingredients? Can men be presentable if they stop shaving using this brand of razor/shaver and opt for another? There could be no end to this nonsense because there will always be someone or some group to find offence in anything and anyway it is impossible to make life antiseptic and sterile - it would not be worth living.

Just as well that I almost totally ignore adverts then. If they want to make them so bland and insipid that everyone ignores them, be my guest.

Bunch of idiots.

Do you know WM, I've noticed this. Just about every advert on the tv showing family life is an advert with a multi racial family, usually a black dad and white mum.
Really? I live in a village of about 6,000 people and the number of mixed race marriages is about 2, so far as I know.
It is a massive distortion of reality. OK, adverts are a massive distortion of reality, but this one is particularly nuts.

Strange.
