In the raw state they show a rise, yes, but since schools went back all pupils are tested, I believe, twice a week where before they were not. The new testing regime will, therefore, find more cases, but is it a "real" rise?

Exactly. My son is a peripatatic guitar teacher and he gets tested twice a week - of course infections will rise if you do ten times the testing. It's not actually a rise at all.

My guess is that they will use the ONS Infection Survey data to fall back on rather than the daily raw case data - the sort found on worldometers and in the press. This is a long running survey of about 28,000 volunteers and gives a good cross-section of results over time for trends in the whole population; such a x cases per 100.000. The new testing regime specifically targeting pupils and teachers skews the figures somewhat.

I see that over the weekend 'Kill the Bill' protests have become more widespread to places such as Bath, Manchester, Cambridge, Nottingham and Sheffield, and they are now incorporating such themes as women's safety and the end of lockdown. Looking at the photos it appears to be the younger generations taking part.

Pub passports! I think not.
