Try THIS!

Try THIS! all you keyboard warriors.

1. Type in a city near you. 2. Type in 100 for the yield (it is 100 kiloton of TNT, the most common warhead). 3. Choose Air burst. 4. Hit Detonate.

The bullseye and next three rings out are the ones to read up on.

This is what all the Silverback, roughy-toughy, playground tub thumping on the Internet could bring us.

We need to do everything we can to avoid nuclear war: negotiations anybody? No.

No. Let's just kick the shit out of out them and they will fold: easy- peasy eh?

No it is not easy. You were right with cornered rat syndrome, but the situation is fairly simple.

Putin cannot survive if he loses in Ukraine. If he loses we run the risk of a nuclear strike.

What do we do? Give him Ukraine and hope he'll be satisfied? How well did that work in WW2?

I did the same calc but with the Nato standard Trident warhead of 450kt.

I reckoned that it would take 4-6 of them to cripple the UK. I don't need an app to tell me that.

This is what MAD is all about. Russia can't survive doing that to the UK because we can do the same back and more.

It is the reason we need Trident and need to keep it.

Just because this situation hasn't come about for 40 years or more doesn't mean you disarm.

The Only guarantee that protects the UK from Putin throwing a nuke is that he physically can't survive it and his country would die.

So it comes back to the original question. Cower in fear and offer up Ukraine in sacrifice or stand tall, tell him F.U. and be prepared to back it with Defcon 1 and Nuclear exercises and a really serious threat.

The best way to wind up being whacked by Russia is to let Putin think we are both scared and unready.

That means not being prepared and not changing threat status and looking scared and unready.

Something the generals will tell Biden. Just as soon as he wakes up from his nap.

Agreed.
The bellicose tone of the media worries me. Way too much jingoism.

The best way to void Nuclear war is to make Putin believe he cannot survive it.

Talk? Tell me, how well did that go be for the invasion. About as well as it went with Hitler.

Putin has decided that he wants to take over Ukraine and redraw the map as suits him once he owns it.

He is using the threat of Nuclear war to get away with it.

There is a film, forget the title, where a teacher is asking the kids in the US whether giving up their rights might be acceptable.

He starts out at one day I think. Most of the kids are "well, could it be so bad". At a month there is rumbling and resistance, at year it is "hell no".

The lesson was that one day, even one hour is too much. Because once you give them up you are trusting that they will be returned.

This situation with Putin is similar. Talk is Code for making giving up Ukraine to Putin acceptable. Because he has decided he wants it and he is never going to stop.

Just like giving up your rights for a day, can you afford to take the risk that he will stop there?

The West is playing a dangerous game akin to "I'm Al right Jack".

Hopefully we will wake up in time to avoid the full. Consequences of that stance.
