Honestly this is not my take. It is the people who take away their democratic representation and allow elitism.

People have the Vote. That is all the democracy they need. In order for democracy to work they have to Exercise that vote sensibly and to reflect their wishes.#

If people don't like the candidate for their chosen party, they have the legal right to choose another party.

Nothing and I do mean nothing, in this world, will motivate a political party to put in sensible local candidates than by losing the seat. Especially if they though it was safe and they lose a "cherished" politician.

Forget the unions, forget the party selections. Democracy is in the hands of the voters.

As far as I can see in the UK today, they are putting up a pretty poor showing!

You are right Suff, democracy is in the hands of the voters. But until we break the habit of voting tribally, nothing will change.
Why start a new party when you can take over an existing "brand" which already has X million voters?
