BBC manipulation of "news".

Postby Workingman » 01 Aug 2013, 10:23

The Beeb has become very adept at passing off all kinds of stories as news.

Today's version is the Drink-drive deaths show 26% rise headline, and that is what a lot of people will take as fact. However, reading further is is clear that no such thing is true. The figure is an extrapolation from a sample of coroner's reports and the real figures are not due till next year. The last time this exercise was carried out it overestimated the number of deaths by 50...... With the current figures that would mean no rise at all: 0%.

The BBC has a number of agendas on the go and anyone who looks into its website on a regular basis will spot them a mile off.

Part of the anti-alcohol initiative, I suppose.
Yes, I belive it's called "news management" WM. You choose what the news (!) is going to report and equally important, what it isn't going to report.
What story you will lead on, how long each story will get and what sort of treatment it will get.
Since I've seen some foreign news stations I've come to realise how parochial and poor UK TV news is, and that includes Sky.
Although reporting supposition as fact is bad, even for the BBC.
