I agree that supermarkets, markets etc. should donate as much as they can of their "safe" waste to charity, but the numbers do not add up to them, or us, being the main culprits.

If every single one of us threw away 200g of food a day, along with the supermarkets' total, it would still leave 10 million tonnes per year of food waste being thrown by someone else! We might be the targets of the media and government, but we should not be being shot at.

Even all our chicken and other bones get boiled up for stock and to use as soup and we never waste even a slice of bread. It isn't meanness because I suppose we could afford to be a bit less frugal, but I just feel it is wrong to waste food when so many people are going hungry.

my mistake is i buy a bag of fruit that needs to rippen :roll:
then its all ready the same day
especially bannanas
but i dont wast much the odd slice of bread
its a bit difficult to shop for one
at times
