It's a bit like idolatry, isn't it? Say the slightest wrong word about Mandela and the handbag-clutching and fainting would be unprecedented. He was a great man but if you asked a lot of people they wouldn't know the details of his life, just that the TV news said that he was a great man.

I heard a joke last night regarding that man they had signing for the deaf, who was apparently a fake

The deaf of South Africa were confused by the signing, apparently the forecourt of the Nissan Main Dealer is covered in flowers 8-)

I agree that TV coverage has been over the top, but I also think that Nelson Mandela was a truly remarkable man.

We could do with a few more people like him in the world.
