We will tell you what we want you to know. We will make statements about the benefits to the economy, to the Regions, to Tom, Dick and Harry, but we will not back them up with any hard evidence. We will trash any opposition arguments, using a compliant media, to get our (proof less) message across.

We will also veto the publication of any official, or semi-official, documents or reports whenever they are not in full agreement with our pro HS2 propaganda. You will not be allowed to see them even if the Information Commission or the Courts say that you should be.

Don't even begin to get me started on this. If any document needs hacking and leaking, it's this one.

The public are hog tied by their short and curly's. What has happened to the Freedom of information???

Kate - Talking of the Freedom Of Information Act, have you ever thought of
using this to ask the Government how many MPs have off-shore banking accounts?

The thing about HS2 is - it's so far in the future.
Isn't there a danger that HS2 will be rendered obsolete by advancing technology, even as it is being built?

They could rebuild extra tracks along side the existing ones which would use existing railway land and stations.
All the propoganda says it goes from London to Birmingham. But you will have to change trains to get to the centre of Birmingham.
Japan already has a train which will go much faster using a modern track system where the carraiges are suspended by electromagnetic motors. My son has travelled on them when he has been in Japan.

In my opinion, they could scrub the damn thing tomorrow and use the money to start restoring the inland relief Devon & Cornwall rail line, between Okehampton and Plymouth - they've prevaricated about this one for years, saying it's unnecessary - and now today at Dawlish ..... 'nuff said.

Indeed. I wonder how much maintenance has been done on that line since BR was de-nationalised? Or how many checks done on the pillars supporting the line right on the sea front?
