Pope Benedict has resigned owing to ill health. He will be replaced by Easter

Hope they elect the Nigerian cardinal. He might shake things up a bit.

We certainly need someone with a bit of charisma after the CofE appointed a deadbeat penpushing bureaucrat ...

Billy Connolly?
I do remember that years ago there was a Cardinal from the Phillipines called Cardinal Sin. I always thought he should have got the top job!

I am no relgious zealot and neither am I a catholic, but I have to say I am quite shocked at the flippancy of some of the replies on here.

It is a piece of news of great significance and great importance, to most of us anyway.

Cardinal Sin! he was Cardinal in Manila during our time there, primarily under Marcus. His name always raised a smile with th expats..
