To this day I am at a loss to understand and am mortified how the military can deliberately bomb children's hospitals in Aleppo and elsewhere in Syria, seeing the vacant looks on their little faces, witnessing the confusion of the five year old pulled from the remains of a house as he wiped the pouring blood from his head onto the chair where he was places just utter confusion, no tears, badly seriously injured children, babies and youngsters dragged from the hospital that was deliberately bombed and turned to rubble.. For GOD'S sake it's time the international community seriously admitted the war is being won by IS. What a cost.. "And for What" it is spreading like poison , it may not been too long before we could witness the same in our own country unless action and I mean action is taken. No food getting through to areas the world has gone mad, plenty of talk talk, but action by the international community Nil. The Heart Has Gone Out Of The World.

I know exactly how you feel, Kate. My heart, too, is pained by the suffering of so many innocents.

It is so frustrating that the world can watch all this carnage going on, and do nothing at all about it.

Can't the 'powers that be' see that what is happening now will eventually spread to other countries,
including our own, unless we "take the bull by the horns" and do something about it pretty quickly ?

Because, just like the Palestinian terrorists, those they need to remove, in order to stop a war which is killing hundreds of thousands and displacing millions, are hiding in those hospitals and in schools and striking from those places. They are storing their weapons there too.

Sadly for the children, who, of course, are only 1% or 2% of the impacted, but shown by the western press as virtually the only people being hurt, those who are bombing them won't just roll over and be killed because the murdering scum from IS are breaking all international laws by using the hospitals as military bases.

Put the blame squarely where it lies. IS made these hospitals part of their military infrastructure specifically for this reason and it is a huge Human Rights breech and huge UN regulation breech.

But what do they care??? They have Hitler's viewpoint. The end justifies the means. In order to defeat them playing by our own rules we would need to field half a million troops on the ground and accept thousands of casualties.

Personally I suspend my sympathy when stuff like this happens and look to the greater body of people who will be relieved when IS is gone. It's the only way.

The International community, including the UN, have always known that terrorists and guerillas use human shields whenever and wherever they can. Schools and hospitals are their favourite bolt-holes.

For the most part conventional forces do not, repeat, do not, "target" these places, for obvious reasons. They are left alone but watched carefully. However, and I say this with a heavy heart, there are times when, for operational purposes, action has to be taken.

It is not nice, but sometimes, and for the greater good, the terrorist leave the good guys with no other option. It is war and it is dirty and the blame lies with the terrorists.

My day has been one of great sadness, seeing the pictures of these blood covered confused little ones made and make even at this moment me weep. I cannot believe that leaders can stand by and witness the murdering of innocents, and I cannot believe that anyone could witness what is in today's media and not find it heartbreaking.. And I cannot believe that nations are standing by allowing these atrocities to continue day and night. "life obviously means nothing"

Kate, I agree that the suffering is heartbreaking, but what can be done? There is no consensus on who is right and who is wrong. Each side, and there are many, has its own backers. Some are open about who they are backing, but others hide behind walls of secrecy.

I hate to say this but the war in Syria looks likely to go on until battle fatigue forces the combatants to run out of steam. I cannot see any end in the near future.

Kate you blame the West & it's allies for this happening,but i see no blame attached to the terrorists for using these buildings

Frank just seeing the little ones bleeding, confused, lost, alone reduces me to tears.. How can the world stand by and not stop these atrocities, and how any supposed human being can deliberately murder innocents is beyond my comprehension, Religion? Power? In the name of Allah? "God" help this twisted evil world and those in it who can consider that murdering innocents "is His Will"

Where do the terrorists get the money to buy their weapons and who supplies the weapons?
During the war many civilians were killed both in the UK and Germany, including children. We accepted it at the time as part of the cost of winning the war.

Kate, would you have the Russians and the US led alliance forces pull out and leave Assad's forces and the rebels and terrorists go toe to toe to toe? That would be the situation if the world really was standing by and doing nothing. Do you think the atrocities would stop or would they get worse?
