I agree that we need to see sackings at all levels in the police and the council, but let's not lose sight of the original crime. You see, what gets me is this -
There are said to be 1,400 girls abused. But there have been 9 prosecutions in that period (Channel 4 News*). So, there must be 100's of other abusers out there in the British Pakistani community in Rotherham and the surrounding towns the girls were trafficked to, and on top of that, there are the facilitators - the taxi-drivers, the flat-owners, ......
The police and the CPS are very quick to say that all cases of historical sex abuse are being taken seriously, and all are investigated and prosecuted where appropriate. Are we now going to see criminal investigation of these 100's of abusers etc, (or will be have to wait 40 years until they're properly historic)?
If the South Yorkshire Police want to redeem their reputation - well, they need to get out there, get investigating and get arresting. Justice demands nothing less.
