Farcical ? Yes indeed.

I've decided now that if I get offered one I shall refuse it.

I understand that this lady wasn't just a stylist. The media are making a lot of that description of course. She was more of a PA/Secretary too.

That was very grudgingly admitted on the radio yesterday too. First they totted out the media line about "stylist' then they expanded on the fact that she was a PA and very involved in organising Sam's events and activities.

I'm reminded, in all of this, about a discussion we once had back in the 90's about the $ value relative to the net worth of people like Bill gates. When Melinda Gates gave money to charity there as a analysis of what that money meant to her. It was eventually agreed that her dollar value was about $100,000.

In terms of favours, the PM has a "favour" value. Where you might buy a friend a pint down the pub for a favour, Cameron has exhaustive levels of power and privilege to offer.

To me his honours list $ value was not very high. We've seen worse and this tradition is there because we don't want our PM's to appear to be mean spirited in thanking those who made their tenure possible.

That's my take and I absolutely refuse to take part in just one more media fest to help the media hate Cameron one more time...

We now have the names of the 16 unelected (by the people) members of the House of Lords who will to take part in governing us. There are 13 friends of Cameron, one from Labour, and two crossbenchers, to add to the other 797 unelected elite. The total is now 813.

There are calls for Cameron to go before a Select Committee to explain the list. It has brought condemnation from all quarters, including some current Ministers. It has also brought reform of the HoL back on the agenda, so some good might come out of it after all.
