Covid is not going away. Influenza is not going away. But both can be managed. The trouble is, we differ as to how to manage it.
I think I would like to say to the anti-vaxxers, and those who want to "force" people to stop wearing face masks because they deem them to be ineffective (oh yes, they're out in force and very vocal across other parts of the social media I frequent) well, you go ahead and do what you want. But don't expect me (and many of my generation) to support you or follow you. I'll do what I'm comfortable with, thank you, and that's continue to socially distance, continue to wear a face mask, not use public transport, interact with other folk as infrequently as I can get away with, and continue to keep as safe as possible. You know something? - I'm quite content with that lifestyle .....
Some talk about NHS mismanagement being the root cause of everything, and say the "overwhelming of the NHS" is a urban myth and the season effects of flu and Covid combined can be coped with - these are the anti-vaxxers and the "freedom" movement who want to let infections rip. The NHS is overwhelmed now, that's not an urban myth. The mental and physical toll on NHS staff is unbearable. Please trust me on this. I could say more, and indeed might in the future, but not at the moment.
Many people are selfish, and many people are deluded. How you identify which faction is which depends which side of the fence you are standing on - but I know what I think.
