I did a search for why, if the galaxy is only 13.9bn years old, it can be 42bn light years across.
The answer is fascinating but also tells us that there are stars out there which are so far away and we are moving apart so fast, that their light will never reach us before the galaxy collapses.
These stars are our best chance to look so far back in time. Should be an interesting view when Webb is fully calibrated.
