As I've mentioned before, every bus round here has internal and external CCTV. And we even have a "trojan bus" that transmits its CCTV images direct to a plain-clothes police car travelling behind it, where those real-time images are displayed on a tablet. It's said to be the first in the country. Apparently face recognition technology is due to be trialled next .....

Of course, it's all for our own good and safety. :|

There are also proposals that private cars be equipped with GPS technology so that their journeys can be tracked. This keeps coming back under the guise of, if you have one fitted you can get cheaper car insurance.

I think I am right in saying that all major UK cities are similarly ringed with ANPR cameras, Os. Certainly Leeds is.

It's not just major cities. ANPR is a combination of software and image. All the software needs to know is the angle of vie and to get an even slightly quality picture and it can produce the number.

These come in Green and are all over the UK.

Almost all of =http://trafficscotland.org/livetrafficcameras/these cameras can be used for ANPR.
