Security in France

Cameron, today, has come out and basically said that anyone who challenged the letter was an extremist "with a problem".

That's the strongest fighting talk any government has taken to the Moslem community in my lifetime. I guess it's election time with immigrants who don't integrate being a vote spinner.

Security is an issue. However the IRA were out to cause terror and force Britain to let go of a bit of Ireland. The Moslem issue is much bigger and also very different. They don't want us to "go" anywhere. They want us to submit to their religion at home and only do what Islam preaches and be "good Moslems" whether we believe or not.

Hence they are always going to go for higher profile targets. London, Paris, Madrid. They are not going to just disrupt services to "make a point" they are trying to make people change their lives "at home" by constantly hitting targets they disagree with. Such as the seat of power (London) and transport nexus (Madrid) and those who offend them (Charlie Hebdo).

Hence Charlie Hebdo was absolutely right to put out the last magazine rune they did. The only message to that is that we will not be cowed and we will not have a small percentage of our population tell us how to run our country or our media.

So I believe the Security services have it sort of right on balance. Although I'm much more in the camp of the Belgians. Find a terror cell, wipe it out. They're currently trying to get those back who fled to Athens. Not a sensible place to go given the home terrorism that Greece has as their police are quite sensitive to terrorists trying to hide there. The UK seems to be letting terror cells flourish so they can track and trace, only bringing them down when they have no other option. This is a very high risk approach as it only takes one offshoot to create another 7/7 type incident.
