But of course, parliament would never pass a law banning the practice. That is the
main fault with democracy. There needs to be an over-ruling body or person who is
empowered to do so. It would suit me if Royalty had that job, but I'm probably alone
in that view.
The other day I was with a group of gentlemen discussing the present state and the
future prospects for this country, and in an unguarded, hot-headed moment, I said
that we might have been better off had we lost the 2nd World War. To my surprise
no eyebrows were raised and the only comment was, "A lot of people say that".
That is food for thought, isn't it?
The truth is that democracy is being destroyed by the very people we elect to look
after our interests.
