cromwell wrote:Well it looks like you have your wish Kate.Cameron has caved in to the ceaseless left wing propaganda and will now be importing some "refugee" children from European camps.

And already liberals are bleating that this "does not go far enough". Well damn me, who could have prophesied that, eh? So now having set a precedent soon the UK too will be "enjoying" hosting 24 year old teenagers, just like Sweden and Germany have done, and paying through the nose for the privilege as well.

I wonder what these children will grow up into?

I also wonder when next years crop of cute looking toddlers in camps comes along - and they will - how many will we take then? And the year after that, and the year after that?

It is costing us £500,000 million to import 20,000 Syrian adults. How much is 3,000 infants going to cost us this year? And the next year? And when all their relations show up?

I won't lie, I resent every penny of it; and we are just adding to known social tensions, the erosion of our liberties and the disintegration of our country.

It's pitiful.

I agree with much of what you say Frank, but the sight and thought of these little ones tears my heart out.. I spent a number of years "In care" far too many!!? the worst years of my life as a child, I was considered beyond control due to the fact I kept running away, getting a penny platform ticket at the station, and taking off giving myself up when I got hungry, my problems were minor in comparison to these little ones. I finally was taken in by Quakers in Oxford who cared for me up to my teens the children's department were glad to get rid of me... Yes maybe my feelings are emotional, but my childhood however horrible was nothing in comparison to these innocent children are experiencing in their terrible traumatic lives.

You are right Kate, and it does need addressing - urgently! - but Europe needs to take collective responsibility, not just allow them to cross the whole of Europe hoping to get here because of our comparatively generous welfare system. I think Suff has a point, about the trafficking :(

I appreciate your opinions Cromwell, as I do Every poster who has written their views on here..I agree we are being taken for suckers, I do not approve of the male adults being given sanctuary they should be returned to their place of origin. We are in a cleft stick damned if we do and damned if we don't take pity on the little ones. I bought a Caravan at an amazing price with the idea of offering a mother and one or two little ones. The daughters went mad their thought being who will look after them when and if I die.At almost 84 I suppose I must consider the fact. I have always taken people in from when I was young, until I was given an ultimatum by my darling husband whose work in those days was away from home."it is either ME or Them" said he. Needless to say I had to make a sensible choice, however throughout all our years we still took quite a number in.

I do admire your human kindness Kate, although the thought of how the situation might develop
if there were many people like you fills me with grave doubts as to the long-term consequences.
As it is, the number of immigrants now entering our country will cause us many problems in years
to come. This land of ours is much too small to accommodate an influx of thousands, or perhaps
millions, of refugees from Africa. It would be much better if we directed our efforts into making
their own countries a safer place to live in.

Aggers I couldn't agree more with you about helping to make other countries safe for people to live in. Mass treks from one side of the world to the other are surely unsustainable and will inevitably change the host countries for ever. Like you, I cherish England's green and pleasant land. I wont be here to see if, but if immigration on a large scale continues unabated, we will be left with a concrete jungle.

The England as we knew it is gone forever, the changes in my 83 years are unbelievable., could you imagine schoolchildren marching in the streets in my childhood chanting due to any governments wish to change the system, bad language considered normal, young children sexting on their iPads, smoking pot.
We used to sing with pride. " There'll always be an England, and England will be free, if England means as much to you, as England means to me." Sadly we are no longer free, we are no longer referred to as Being English we are now " British." On all official papers that arrive for me where I Am expected to accept the change in my nationality I take great delight in crossing out the "British" boldly replacing it with my nationality "ENGLISH"

A very noble Christian act to give sanctuary to those poor dear little children but hang on, might those unaccompanied children not be the ultimate weapon of ISIS against which there is no defence in countries that take them in. Children have a habit of growing up and they and their numerous progeny could well produce many jihadi fighters to help the
Islamification of Europe from within.I don`t think future generations will thank us for being so kind.

I
I posted on my Facebook the London Muslim marchers who carried banners stating they will rule the world. The Police did .. Nothing...A different story when English people march stating they want our country back.. I would love to think we can live in harmony, there are loving caring Muslins as there are trouble makers. I am not talking about teenagers I am talking about the need to care for the small children.. I have like a good many seen too much of violence in the Middle East, The murderers destroying everything in their sight are not Christians but people murdering their own. "we are at war and have been since B'Liar invaded Iraq and Libya. A child is a child traumatised and guilty purely of being born.

Kate, I have said this before, you are a one-off, but tell me this.

How did these pre-teens and toddlers cover 1500 km "alone and unaided"?

I do not believe that they did. They have been 'trafficked', for want of a better word, to get them to the EU. So what happens to them if they are taken in? Will they be taken in to politically correct and totally useless children's homes? Will they again, due to PC, be placed with 'moderate' Moslems already in the EU?

How can we, Europeans, guarantee that they will not become, or already are, radicalised?

If they are in contact with their parents, and they will be, we should get in contact with those parents and tell them that we are sending their children back and that in future, to stop them absconding again, they should employ effective baby sitters.

I no longer even get exercised about it. 70 %of these children are from places which are not even on the War or strife list and the NGO's excuse it with "escaping poverty" and the liberals let them in.

There are at least 2bn children in "poverty", even 2% is way too much. Where are we going to put them? Under the stairs.

Their families don't care, they are willing to take the risk of these children losing their lives in order to grab what we don't want to give.

Only when our own children are on the streets begging for charity will those who take these "poor waifs" in realise the huge mistake it was. 50 years too late and light years away from any solution.

Mrs S and I are currently of the opinion that we don't want to end our lives in France. Although that is an option

That may change yet.

Anyway, enough. Apparently the fact that hundreds of millions of people want to force their way into the UK and take everything we have is not enough reason to leave a few thousand "poor waifs" where their families have left them and the French are holding them.

Fine. No need to discuss it then. Because it's beyond either logic or reason.
