Clarification required please. Someone posting on FB emphasising the need to register to vote. Different people saying different things :(. If you are already register to vote in local elections and general elections, do you need to register separately to vote in the Referendum?

Totally confused from Likklebra.

How do I register to vote?

If you want to have your say at the EU referendum, you must be registered to vote.

How do I check if I'm registered to vote?

Every local authority holds the electoral register for their area. There is no online electoral roll.

Perhaps the person is getting mixed up with the Council and Regional elections going on right now where they are constantly talking about registering to vote. Or perhaps they've heard radio programs telling them if they want to vote in the EU election they need to be registered to vote and what the cut off time is.

The simple point is this. Every person already registered to vote in the National elections will receive a ballot paper. If you are not already registered, then you need to register.

Hope that clarifies it.

Have you seen that Holland had a refrendum on 7th April 2016.
The result was a NO to leave the EU.
Not had much publicity has it?
We have a card to say we will have a postal vote in the local elections in May. So we must be on the register.

No it wasn't an EU referendum. It was a NO to ratifying the EU treaty with the Ukraine. It was just 31% of the population who bothered to vote and just scraped legitimacy by 1%.

However the government can debate it then override it. Which they will do.

Of course we've heard nothing about the treaty have we???
