Great move, Boris!

What great timing. Who would really want to be leader of the pile of poo that is the Condescendatives at this time?

It has to be far better to wait for things to hit rock bottom before stepping in to be the haloed saviour and seal your place in history, or is it?

Boris has a penchant for making himself look stupid beyond belief and he will have plenty more opportunities before now and then. Being a buffoon without any real power might look charming, in a strange sort of way, but would we really want (another) buffoon as PM?

Then there is one Ruth Davidson waiting in the wings. I have watched her and she has carried every debate she has been in. That is no mean feat for a Scottish Conservative. She is a rising star if ever there was one.

BoJo may be being cute about it and waiting till the thing descends into Chaos, however he may actually be living up to what he said in the campaign. Namely that he was not doing this for a promotion. Or at least living up to his word for now until he can be persuaded otherwise...

Ruth Davidson? Was totally remain, is tarred with Sturgeon's brush and was standing next to Labour far too much in the referendum campaign. Maybe a good politician but she was one of the Architects of Fear and told entirely too many porkies and half truths for her to be a viable candidate right now. If Scotland remains and ten years from now she's going to be a real force to recon with...

Who would I vote for?

Steven Crabb first and Liam Fox after... Sadly my Conservative membership has lapsed. Although I still get the emails.

Making BoJo what? A paragon of the truth, the whole truth, so help me...

I read that he joined Brexit to raise his profile and was stocked and shunned when Leave won. I know many people find him funny in a 'blithering idiot' sort of way, but I have yet to meet anyone who trusts him.

Anyway, he's toast, archive material. The list, so far is:

Theresa May

Stephen Crabb

Liam Fox

Michael Gove

Andrea Leadsom

With Priti Patel, Ruth Davidson and Philip Hammond yet to decisde.

If they all stand my top three would be:

Ruth Davidson

Stephen Crabb

Andrea Leadsom.

No worse than that the whole world will collapse around the UK as we decide to leave....

I believe Cameron has already stated that he believes that the person who leads the UK out of the EU should be someone who believes that this is best for the UK.

That leaves Davidson out. She's poisoned her own chances and at least 100 Tory MP's won't vote for her.

Should be a good circus though...

Heaven help us if they elect Michael Gove.

Theresa May gave a very statesmanlike speech this morning and looked every inch a Prime Minister.

Cameron can state what he likes, he is a dead man walking.

Brexit negotiations will be done by a team, not one person. If I was picking that team it would be mainly made up of Brexiters, some netrals and some Remainers. It would also be a cross-party team and contain members from all four countries of the UK.

I know, I am an ideologue, but I honestly do think that is the right way to go.

I really don't understand this. Imo Johnson would have walked the Conservative leadership.

Cromwell, I was reading earlier on the BBC's live feed that Johnson's own canvassing told him the support was not there.

One MP said that he was now "busted" as a future leader.

And I am sorry, Rodo, but there is something not quite right about May. She's a bit creepy.

I view her with disMay but at least she is forthright with handbag at the ready. :)

I wonder what happened to Abu Quetada who was her bete noir for so long. I expect he is back here after his acquittal in Jordan and is living in his nice big council house on benefits with all his brood. :(
