the printed edition equivalent of the Internet troll?
The more I read DM articles which start with sensational headlines, but end with "equivocation" which deny the very substance of the headline, I think that my definition must be close to the truth.
In Internet slang, a troll is someone who posts inflammatory, extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community, such as a forum, chat room, or blog, with the primary intent of provoking readers into an emotional response
