I'm reading in the Gruniaad that just because Trump chose to make Farage the first international politician he would meet in person, that Farage is still a "nobody" and the UK has much better ties than Farage.

Don't they get it?

1. Trump is not a politician, he's a businessman who does TV too.
2. Trump sticks by his "mates"
3. Putin is one of his "mates".

Is it any wonder Trump's team has issues with just about every government in the world INCLUDING the UK? They were all horrible to him during his campaign expecting him to fail. Major OOPS.

Of course they won't listen to Farage, they'll go on trying to fit what Trump says into some Political pattern and they will get that wrong time after time. One US media outlet said "well this will save us a LOT Of effort. When we want to print what the US government is going to do, we just listen to Trump and print it"...

The first really contentious move he will make is the NATO exercises going on in Eastern Europe. I wonder if Trump will even pull his NATO support back to the UK?

Wouldn't that be a OneTwo to the EU. First they seriously p1ss off the UK people by treating us as if we're Oliver begging for help in security, then they seriously p1ss off Trump who is mates with Putin. I'd ask "don't these guys ever learn", but that would be a total waste of space. No they don't.

What I am going to find seriously interesting is whether the Eastern EU panic now. They panicked when the UK voted to leave the EU. Because they were very aware that 50% of the real power of the EU was walking out the door and they relied on that power to feel safe. They were assuaged in this fear by the NATO support and the pivotal roles the US and UK play in that support.

I do wonder where they will be in February? They all howled Trump down when he said "nasty" and "racist" things like "I don't want millions of Mexicans illegally crossing my border".

Our world is changing before our eyes. NO I don't like what Trump will do in the environment space. But I might accept it to get rid of the smothering blanket of PC which has left it's stinking pattern over all of our lives.

When will the press wake up and smell the coffee??

Nato and the wall are interesting.

Trump said that in future the US would not come to the aid of a Nato member not paying its 2% into the pot. Currently only five members of the 28 do: US, UK, Greece, Poland and Luxembourg. The rest, mostly EU members, fall well short.

When it comes to the wall Trump has said he will secure the borders, build the wall at about $3.2bn, and then deport up to three million illegals, gang members, and those with criminal records. People are asking where the money will come from.

Well, let's see. A huge sum could be saved by the retrenchment of some US service personnel from overseas. Another large amount will be saved in welfare payments made to the immigrants. Then there are the tariffs he will put on 'dumped' goods.

It all looks a bit isolationist, but the US has the workforce and the natural resources to be able to pull it off.

What I can't understand is , if Trump gets better relations with Putin, why is that a bad thing?

It isn't unless you go in for USvTHEM politics and play it for all it's worth.

Typically the Republicans have demonised the Russians. So Trump will face some resistance. But they've a hard row to hoe given that Russia is now a democracy with elected chambers and presidents. Yep they may not quite be along US lines but they are certainly light years from the USSR.

I'm quite happy about Trump.

It will be like a breath of fresh air, after years of listening to the typical brand of 'professional politicians' that democracy now usually produces. We could do
with someone like him in this country.

And, judged by todays standards, so was Churchill.

There is no doubt that Churchill, transported to today, would be a racist, mysoginistic, elitist, opressor of the lower classes.

Interesting how our viewpoint changes isn't it.

The BBC also comes to the same conclusion but is a lot more supportive of Churchill with a lot more context and detail.

Interesting given that the BBC, which has been leading the charge of Political Correctness, blames the attacks on Churchill on exactly that..

Yes, Kaz, but a very clever 'vile' man.

He quickly identified who his votes would be coming from, and he also identified the topics they were interested in or concerned about. He then played to that gallery.

The press and TV were outraged. These were their agenda topics and everyone had to agree to them, so they went after Trump. This is exactly what he wanted and he came back at them head-on and with both barrels.

We now know who the winner was.

You can say what you like about Churchill, but I prefer to look upon him
as the man who lead us through WW2 to victory. It's a pity some people
have nothing better to do but to run him down.
