I swear these idiots will do us in......

There is a proposal from the elite that anyone holding public office has to swear an oath before taking up the job.

The oath is not finalised but will contain:
... believing in freedom of speech, freedom of religion, freedom from abuse; a belief in equality, democracy and the democratic process and respect for the law.

So it will be a secular swearing in will it? And anyone breaking the oath will be subject to what sanction(s)? And all post holders will be more worthy than the rest, will they not?

Modern oaths are not worth the paper they are printed on. They are broken with regularity and without punishment. Look at that rogues gallery that is Westminster, plenty of oath breakers in there.

Couldn't agree more. Absolutely farcical, and typically leftie-lovie British.

Diane Abbott says it won't make a 'apenny worth of difference, and that's the first time I've agreed with her in about 35 years .....

Sturgeon will want a separate oath for the Scots, no doubt .....

Quite so. I see the paragon of virtue that is Keith Vaz has been let off by the coppers again, after offering to buy class A drugs for male prostitutes.

About the oath though, you have to laugh. First of all, what are these British Values that are being upheld, does anybody know?

Second, as an example the Police and Crime Commissioners have to take "an oath of impartiality" when they take the job. This is designed to counter the fact that most of them are career local politicians and that the police are being brought even more under political control.

Anyway, our local PCC is a long time Labour councillor. When first elected as PCC he took the oath of impartiality.
The first person he hired was another Labour councillor; so was the second person he hired. It's a joke.
