Comparing the circus going on in parliament today

Reading the press on the whole mess going through parliament at the moment, I thought to try and get a contrast on other critically damaging legislation which was passed by our parliament.
I tried to find details of the debate and amendments made to the Lisbon Treaty that Gordon Brown had signed without the will of the people.
If you disregard the rabble rousing in the last paragraph or two, this page makes the contrast of the sheep in our parliament.
Listening to their grandstanding and rabble rousing today, you would believe that it was impossible to get "anything" past parliament without clear and close scrutiny and without changes which benefit the UK.....
All evidence to the contrary.
The SNP, determined to give anything away to the EU so they can stay in. Labour and Corbyn caught like a deer in the headlights, nowhere to run and unable to make their mind up before the truck runs them over.
The Tories, for once less fractured than Labour.
What a circus. Live on TV for the rest of the world to goggle at and wonder how we managed to become one of the powers of the world....
When I was 16 I worked in a garage as a summer job. The owner of the garage had been a councillor and he told me about a session they had had. It was back in the early 70's and the council meeting signed off £2m of works without even checking the details to the slightest extent. Then they spend the next 3 hours arguing over a £70 shed which had been requested.
Rarely have I seen a parallel for that situation but I'm seeing it today.
