When it comes down to the Copeland by election.

I can just feel what these voters are feeling. Where is screaming Lord such when you really need him.... Sadly, in his grave. I think the biggest story tomorrow will be the turnout, not the eventual vote. People are just sick of it and the PM turning up really didn't help their case especially as she didn't make any clear statements that Copeland's needs were a priority. Because, clearly, they are not.

The only viable protest vote, in terms of actually having a chance to beat the others with a swing, is UKIP. But I'm guessing that will be a step too far for many of the voters.

I think one of the problems hitting the Tories may be that the new nuclear reactor in that area could be in doubt - may be wrong but isn't it something to do with Toshiba, whose nuclear division is in financial difficulty?

The Tories are having a hard time because of the closure of the Maternity unit with the next nearest being 40 miles. Their commitment to Nuclear is known, but the current mess with Toshiba is not helping.

Corbyn, apart from being a total arse, is also long term on record as being anti Nuclear and won't fess up about it. All he had to do is say that he would double the decommissioning capacity at Sellafield to shut down all the other plants and that it would take the next 50 years to do it. That would have been believable but would have caused him issues elsewhere. So he tried to fudge it and the people are in no mood for political fudging. Corbyn's only hope is that May also fudged it.

They both need a good ass kicking but I think the smear job the press has done on UKIP may just tilt the balance to a Labour hold; if the Tories don't swing it.
