George Osborne takes on a new job - four days at week as editor with the Evening Standard - MP one day a week. Good value for money to the taxpayer - I think not. Disgusting.

The thinking seems to be that he is creating a power-base and a mouth-piece in which to attack Theresa May as and when Brexit goes belly-up.
London is on a different planet compared to the rest of us. Never let it be said that this is not a divided country ......
Shame that the constituents of Tatton haven't got the powers to "recall" their MP.

The benefits of living in a meritocracy.
He is qualified to be the editor of anything in what way?
The comments regarding this are beginning to look like he and the Evening Standard have got this oh so wrong.
And, yes, all his other 'activities' should disbar him from being an MP asap.

He has to resign as an MP or give the editorship up. Hopefully his local party in Tatton will deselect him. It's obvious by making this choice that he can't be bothered with them, why should they bother with him?

A somewhat
different view.
Whilst Osborne is pushing it a bit, do you really want a political class?

He is more than pushing it a bit. One day a week - he is hardly even a part time MP. This is the man who thought if he took tax credits away from the low paid, the minimum wage and the lower tax starting band would somehow balance out evenly, and the low paid would not lose out. Wishful thinking that was, and it didn't fool the public.

MPs excusing themselves for their extracurricular activities.... what a surprise.
Osborne has six jobs and the one he appears to value least is being an MP. All he has done is use it to network and gain undeserved influence. Get rid!

According to the BBC tonight, the Tatton constituency is due to be dissolved under the HoC boundary changes.
So you could argue that he is jumping now before the MP job disappears .....

"So you could argue that he is jumping now before the MP job disappears ....." .....but only if you were attempting to defend the indefensible.

Well, given that he has the political equivalent of Leprosy and that his constituency is going; could he really give a damn what his constituency, or we, the voters, think about it?
We won't stop MP's having other jobs any more than Firemen.
