This sneaked out in a 'good day to bury bad news' sort of way while the media did its in-depth navel gazing on Brexit and a set of elections hardly anyone was interested in.

When this comes in to force the state (police and security services) will be allowed to monitor every one of our electronic communications, even as we make them, 24/7/365.

If this information had been lifted from a Labour document the press would be all over it like a rash. We would have warnings of 1984, the East German Stasai, North Korea MkII and warnings galore abour the 'far-left' and civil liberties.

It wasn't, it is a government paper. It has been drafted on May's watch as either Home Sec or PM. She and the Tories obviously think that we need keeping an eye on to ensure the 'strong and stable' government we hear so much about. And it will all be sold to us on the back of the total bollocks of it being necessary in the fight against terrorism.

We get dire warnings from the media of drifting towards extreme socialism (communism) or the hard-left or far-right. However, it is beginning to look as though we have a lot more to fear from centrists or the 'not too far to the right of centre' parties.
