NHS hit with ransomeware virus

Causing havoc with hospitals and GP surgeries around the country right now.

Have these criminals finally made themselves enough of a nuisance to get the attention of the authorities I wonder.

I'm just sorry for everyone who is impacted by this.

With corporate systems there should be no way that this could happen. If I hadn't already known, I would still not be surprised..

This is a despicable attack on NHS staff and their patients. My husband had his knee replacement yesterday and is in one of the affected hospitals at the moment. He is full of praise for the NHS, the hospital, and the dedicated staff. What motivates these people to attack an organisation which is so essential to all of us.

I was thinking the same, these places pay good money for IT services and the operators should know.....

Meds, I was reading that the internal systems - intranets - are not affected so hubby's treatment should still be OK. It looks like it is public facing and records systems that have been attacked by the low-life scum.

Medsec I wish your husband a speedy recovery, and hope this won't affect him adversely xxx

Suff, M has had some dealings via BT with the NHS system, he says they have spent an absolute fortune on it, and yet it is hopeless. Very poorly done :(

The Big Boss at BT is a bit anxious, so poor Mick is at his desk making sure they aren't vulnerable!

Personally, I'm not surprised.

I've been expecting something like this for some time. It's only going to get worse.

Perhaps we should think about going back to good old paper-work.

I only hope that anyone will not suffer because of this business.

Absolutely Aggers, it is indefensible to play with people's health like this :(

Glad to hear that medsec.

I had read that the virus hit the phone pabx blocking the phone lines and in at least one case impacted the transfer of xrays to doctors and consultants. I also saw that some data was encrypted and a ransom demanded to unencrypt it..
