A little bit of truth always leaks out

Postby Suff » 13 Oct 2017, 11:54

Today it was not the way that Juncker "blew off" the incredible commitment the UK has made to the EU; not just in lives in WW1/2, nor the contributions to post WW2 resurrection of Germany, nor in our massive contribution to NATO and the cold war. Saying that the EU had so much to thank the UK for BUT, it was the Euro which had saved the EU from further war and the UK had to PAY into it to an unknown amount, well, because, we had to.... You know. It's RIGHT.

No. Not that at all. Even though ALL of the Remoaner press completely left that little bit of excrement out of Junckers speech.

It was this.

Despite noting "progress" over the issue of citizens' rights post-Brexit, Mr Juncker asked: "Why are we discussing nonsense like that?"

He added he didn't understand why both sides don't say "things will stay as they are" after the UK's exit, continuing: "Citizens have rights because they are citizens, not because there is a Brexit issue which has to be discussed."

So, what I have known all along is actually articulated in that one moronic statement. Namely that Juncker is a 'kwit who has his job because he's more likely to do what he is told than the other contenders when it comes to EU world domination aspirations...

Let me see Mr Juncker. Now what was the statement. "Get your cake and then eat it, see what is left on the plate".

Let me try a different statement for you Mr Juncker. "Go to Yemen, then tell the government that you have a right to stay, a right to money and a right to work because you are a [Citizen]".

'kwit.

That entire statement exposes the whole premise of the EU diatribe, monologue and demands. They refuse to accept that A50 is an exit mechanism from the EU. They are demanding that A50 is nothing more than a "realignment" of political sensibilities.

The EU negotiates with Sovereign nations all the time. The EU even demands that the citizens of those Sovereign nations do not have the same rights in the EU, regardless of treaty, as they have at home.

Yet when the UK leaves the EU and becomes a Sovereign Nation, in full, again, the EU seems to think that it will still have Sovereign rights over the UK.

This is why they refuse to negotiate. This is why they believe they will win.

The answer?

Shut the door. Walk away. Sit down and wait for their own businesses to have the bloodbath with their own politicians. Once they have had all their internal bloodletting, then open the doors again and restart the "negotiations". However we should take the "Florence offering" off the table and really start again.

Personally I'm praying that the idiots in the Commission and the Council keep this BS up for another year until it's too late.

Because let's face facts, as I wrote to Davis recently. 12-16% of the population of the UK will change their vote if they believe that a party has not, or will not, deliver a clean Brexit for the voters of the UK who voted to leave. No political party can survive a catastrophe of that magnitude.

Therefore a clean Brexit is what we will get. Because the consequences of fudging this one are too high.

It is interesting to note that, among the cabinet, attitudes are changing as the EU stonewall goes on and this kind of BS comes form the Commission and the Council. The change is this:

Ministers are suddenly waking up and realising that project fear was nothing more than that and that project EU is nothing more than world domination from which they have no intention of ever withdrawing.

Those ministers who believed the EU was a good thing are getting a fast track education in who and what those "partners" of ours in the EU are. They are not impressed. They are moving from Remain to Leave in increasing numbers.

As the EU and Juncker continue with this fairy story of "The UK is leaving but it's not really leaving so it has to pay for all those things it was always paying for", more and more Remainers who were convinced by project fear will get on their very British high horse and start supporting Hard Brexit.

All we need is more time and a negotiation team who highlight the BAD and the UGLY of the EU position, rather than trying to play it down.

So far they are doing a good job of keeping the EU off balance. The EU marches in and lays down it's demands... The UK politely listens to it, politely tells them that it is not what we want to do and then goes to the press conference and says "No Deal is better than a bad deal and we are now planning for No Deal".

The amusing part is that our negotiation team is not saying that in the meeting. They spend their whole time trying to negotiate and the EU spends their whole time stonewalling. Once the meeting is over, the UK team tells the public that we're not taking that crap and we'll walk away if they don't stop it. Leaving the EU team flummoxed because they expect us to say that in the meeting so they can challenge it and be prepared for it at the press conference.

Well done the UK negotiating team. Because until the EU gets the message that we're not taking their crap, this is going to continue.

As I said before. Next step, close the door.

This is what I have been trying to say all along even though I voted Remain.

However, I, and I suspect many Leavers, also recognise that there has to be a clean up period (implementation, transition, whatever) for a fixed time once Brexit is active to iron out any creases. The A50 two year period, plus any extension, should obviously be used to negotiate the main details, that goes without saying, but things have to be done properly.

The UK and many EU countries are former colonial powers who have all seen their colonies move to independence, some more successfully than others. They all recognise the advantages and the pitfalls of separation and it might serve us all if they were to look to their histories and take note.

There will have to be a clean up period, but it will not happen until all parties start to make reasonable moves from the start position.

I don't see that happening any time soon. The EU is still working on 40 odd years of the UK bending over backwards to not be the bad guy.

This may take a decade to settle, but the longer it takes, the less likely it will work out for the EU and their position.

That's fine, only a few dreamers think that it will be Utopia from minute one.

I think that most of us, Remainers and Leavers alike, would rather it be done properly. Neither side should want a fudged deal that is constantly revisited and tweaked forever and a day.

But, in fact, this is exactly what we are leaving. So we should make sure that they do not infect our exit deal with their own issues.
