Not wrong, never wrong.

That is the attitude of so many Quangos, committees, Boards, departments.....

The latest is the The Joint Committee of Primary Care Trusts (JCPCT). It decided that closing the Leeds General Infirmary (LGI) children's heart unit was a good idea. 600,000 petition signatories and one judge thought otherwise. She has overturned the decision. The JCPCT response: you are all wrong and we are right, so we will do everything we can until we get our way.

The LGI unit serves West and South Yorks and the Humber region, inc N. Lincs - about 6.5 million people. If it closes its case-load will be split between Newcastle or Liverpool. Obviously the JCPCT members have never tried to get from Lincoln to Liverpool or Hull to Newcastle. It is hell to do under normal circumstances, never mind in an emergency, and sometimes impossible in winter. It is also not clear how Newcastle and Liverpool will cope with the extra case-load.

It's all about money and budgets.

We are wrong because they budgeted without the unit. Now, decision reversed, they have to cut money from somewhere else to do it.

So, we are wrong and they are right......

Idiots.

It's like the Lincoln NHS Direct dental unit. Which was put in place because it was impossible to get a NHS dentist in Lincoln. They closed it. Cited reason? It was underused.

In fact, having used it myself twice, it was so oversubscribed that they never had an open slot. EVER.

Your tax rubles at work......
