Vicous racial attack on the tube

Two women are being hunted after a woman who was speaking Spanish on the Night Tube was viciously attacked.

But you have to get near to the end of the very short article before you read.

The women who attacked her were both black, had braided hair and are believed to be in their late 20s.

The whole press response has been written as shocking and vicious attack. Yes it was. But with 50 dead so far from "shocking" and "vicious" MURDER, I believe they need to get their priorities right.

1. An ongoing wave of violent murders
2. An ongoing wave of violent crime on "Scooters" (although 500cc bikes are not quite what we think of as Scooters), perpetrated with an escalating series of weapons
3. A couple of, possibly drunk, black girls who slapped around a Spanish speaker on the early morning Tube.

Yep #3 is not right and it should be stopped. But get their priorities right. The gangs murdering people are predominantly Black. Stop and search the gangs. Use the terror act to get at the gangs. Put the gangs in jail.

Then we can worry about our declining social structure. We've been getting drunk and slapping around and beating up people for being "different" in the UK for millennia. It is why we have denigrating terms for the Scots, the Geordies, the Liverpudlians and Yorkshiremen. Even the slow lilting west country accent gets its own slurring. It doesn't need race to get in the mix, you just need to be different.

I can hear Powell's words from beyond the grave. "I told you so". I read his so called "hate" speech. It was refreshing to do so and highlights the toxic nature of the so called "race debate". The sad truth is that there is no debate.

Yes, it's bad. But there are lots worse things happening in London right now.

Sky, the BBC and ITN all use the same wording with the sentences shuffled about a bit. It looks more like a press release from the British Transport Police than real reporting. I suppose that they have to be seen to be doing something.

Years ago an attack of this type would not have made the inside pages of a local paper never mind the front pages of national broadcasters, such is the nature of 24 hr news.
