It is coming under scrutiny because of its impact on the environment. We in the UK dump 300,000 tonnes of old clothes in landfill every year. Many of them have not worn out, they have just become out of fashion. Most of them are of man made fibres (plastic) or a mix of man made and natural.
Another thing coming under scrutiny is cosmetics and the chemicals used in them.
Something, apparently, has to be done.
I feel some new taxes coming on.

This fashion business puzzles me, and I cannot understand why so many people feel is necessary to slavishly follow it.
Recent examples has been men letting facial hair grow until they look the same as Vagrants or Tramps did years ago,
women risking foot problems my wearing shoes with heels like 6" nails , etc, etc.
I can understand fashion changes in clothing, especially for women, but not when it comes to such ridiculous things
astrousers with ragged holes in them.
Who starts all these things? Is it just a con to get people to spend more money on clothing?

Nail. Head. Well hit.
That's all very well, but I read the other day that changing fashions are causing the scrapping of vast amounts of clothing well before really necessary,
and this is akin to the problems to mankind caused by plastic waste.

Sometimes it can be a weight thing - you know, one minute you are a size 10 and the next minute you're a size 14
