The curse of Mary Creagh...

Postby cromwell » 29 Jul 2018, 08:43

Three months of sunshine and then Mary pops up on the telly, warning us about the dangers of the warm weather and not to go to Sainsbury's without slapping on the factor 50 and taking enough water with us to cross the Australian outback with.

Result? It's been raining ever since she said it...

I quite like Mary. She is a bit like one of our local parachutists, Rachel Reeve. Most of the time they are quite sensible, then all of a sudden they come out with some crackers. ;)

She must be on your local news, I've not heard of her!

I think the weather girls on our local stations have to have horticultural type names to qualify - we've had Emily Woods, Bea Tucker, and Holly Green! :P

Bea Tucker. Bee Tuc.... OK, I'll get my coat.

Mary Creagh is an MP down Cromwell's way, Rachel Reeve is Leeds West. Neither of them are locals, but they are not as bad as some parachutists.

Is that who I have to thank. Glad about that.

I got off the tube tonight in my T shirt and sandals (no socks please), having flown in from a sweltering Limoges where the misting aircon was on the blink and they were handing out water to the rather tired looking people who had been standing for over an hour waiting for the late planes to arrive.

As I was walking down the road it was wonderful, coolness. Haven't had that for a while and the light rain was wonderful too. My neighbours came over to see us to see if they needed to do anything with the pool as it was not fully filled before I left. We noticed the "cool" as we walked under the deck outside the back of the house. I pulled the temp station over, in the utility room, as we walked past and found out the "cool" was 28.4C.

I'm sitting here with the windows open and enjoying the apartment being cool for the first time in weeks.

Where do I send the donations??
