Leave.EU, you will remember them as the criminal gang fined £70k for spiking the referendum result, well they are now urging their supporters to join the Conservative party.

Their supporters are not joining because they support the Tory party or its politics, oh no, they are joining to change the party. Leave.EU is quite clear, it wants members in place to have a vote if Theresa May steps down or a leadership contest is called. It wants to "put the spine back" into the party, so long as it is a hard right spine.

Traditional Tories are so worried that they are pleading "If you've ever voted Conservative please join to stop this," Good luck with that, lads and lasses.

It frightens me that the country is drifting into hard right / hard left factions with a vacuum in the centre.

Yes, seriously contemplating it so I can give our local Remainer MP some grief …..

Ah yes, the vacuum in the centre. People who think that they can just not vote because their vote "doesn't count" and things will just carry on as they were before.

It has always been the case that the fringes of politics are inhabited by people who believe the most and are motivated the most. The difference, today, is that through social media you can reach them all, in one go and get them to actually change things.

In this specific case, it is people who were probably Tories in the first place, by voting habit, who moved to UKIP because the Tories were too "in the middle" to suit. Coming back and joining the party to get the result you like? Well it gives funds to the Tories to fight the next election and it means the leader is more what they want.

How very undemocratic of those "right wing" voters.....

I have known that May's number was up since she fought the last election on more traditional Labour lines. The ONLY thing keeping her in a job is that she has to deliver Brexit and it has to be a real Brexit, not a watered down, fudged, mess as most of Labour want. That is very Tory too. Focus on the job at hand and get it done, one way or another.

Once that is done, she's toast.

Tories don't sink the boat when in government. Those who have threatened are going to pay for it, dearly.

You might note the veteran Tory, Ken Clark, is completely invisible right now. Because he knows that if he opens his mouth and stands with the rebels he is dead in the water as a Tory. I haven't seen a comment of his in months. Or maybe it's just the news I read. But he doesn't make the headlines right now. That can only be because he doesn't want to.

I had already considered joining the Tory party to have my say on the leader.

If the only people currently motivated to join Labour are Momentum types, and the Conservatives the Leave EU types, you have to ask why? Why aren't ordinary people joining political parties?

Maybe because they feel that political parties aren't representative of them, and haven't been for years?

It's how things are. I get the distinct feeling that the Parliamentary Labour and Tory parties don't like their ordinary members much. OK for delivering leaflets at election time but otherwise a nuisance.

Most Labour MP's want Corbyn out, but the membership don't and the way the rules are atm, that's that. Most Tory MP's don't want Boris Johnson as leader, but if it were up to the membership he'd wallop May in a straight vote.

If the Parliamentary parties aren't even representative of their own membership, then who are they representing?

It is a strange old world.

We have been told for many months that when Momentum infiltrated Labour it was a bad thing, a very bad thing, badder than a bad thing on a bad day.

Funny that now it is happening to the Consrvatives it is a good thing; freeing us from the shackles of the centre and that we must clelebrate our liberation. "Embrace the extremes for they are your true friends."

I actually do not think that the majority agree, but hey-ho.

Perhaps not. But I'm not a hard right wing voter. Nor are many, many, of those who moved to UKIP. There is a HUGE difference between the entryism of the Labour Party by a hard left minority and disaffected Tory voters becoming Tory party members so they can choose a leader who will do what they want. Therefore rendering them no longer disaffected and able to vote for the party again.

The two are not equal but it will be oft repeated that they are.

The "majority" will happily repeat said slur. But those who know the truth will join the party....

The cosy mainstream have had a big shock over the last few years.
These events have all got two things in common.
The election of Donald Trump.
Jeremy Corbyn becoming leader pf the Labour party.
Brexit.
The rise of populism in Europe.

1. They weren't supposed to happen and
2. There has been a concerted media campaign against every one of them.

When the Momentum group placed itself in a position to move Labour back to the left, from the centre right "Conservative lite" developed by Blair, it was criminal, an affront, anti-democratic and a Marxist plot.

Yet now that disaffected UKIP voters, and those on the hard right, with no party worth considering are instructed to join the Conservatives to move the party further to the right than it has probably ever been it is a cracking idea and a jolly good show.

It has been quite clearly proven, over multiple years now, that the vast majority of voters who switched to UKIP were not hard right.

Fully 50% of them were Ex Labour voters before the last election.

But let us repeat the myth. UKIP are hard right.
