Even Hammond is talking about the "price" of Brexit being less than the Cost of failure.

Finally, did they just wake up? It's all going south with a tail wind and the Tory remainers just remembered the it was the Brexit vote that put Cameron back in Government in 2015 and kept May there in 2016.

Bit LATE to remember that one.

72% of Conservative members favour Brexit. However the Conservative parliamentary party has a majority of remainers.
The plan was to present May's deal to the masses, appeal for Tory unity and all get behind Mrs May. The deal has been judged as a dud and there is no unity.
If conservative voters stay at home at the next general election then Corbyn will win by a landslide.

Then there is the price of Brexit, but which Brexit, there are so many; and how is failure defined?

I honestly do not see what the Con MPs have to worry about. When Cameron lost the referendum was a time to worry. The next was when May called her (failed) general election some three years before the end of the five year fixed term. They also might as well not worry about Brexit, be it May's version, Uncle Tom et al's version or no deal - they are out.

And to be honest - who cares?

Well, not me.

The Tories deserve to be out, for at least a generation. If we finish up with Corbyn, c'est la vie.

I'm beginning to think that the best option for the country now is:

May loses Parliamentary vote on the proposed deal.
Best option*: (and I say this as a Brexiteer) Parliament then agrees to terminate Article 50 (following the recent ECJ advisement) so we stay in the EU under existing conditions.
17m Leavers then turn their wrath on Parliament for subverting the result of the first referendum. Remainers keep their heads down.
Tories subsequently shot out by a landslide.

*The worst option would be a second referendum. If Remain then won it by a small margin (likeliest scenario), I cannot see the Leavers accepting that vote, and think it would tear the country apart.

My opinion of our own politicians (of whatever party) has never been lower and it wasn't high to begin with.

I will use a bit of guesswork as it is still not clear.

Failure, I assume, is no deal. It has to be because it and May's deal are the only options available, or so we are told.

It therefore follows that the Brexit price being talked about is related to May's deal.

So what does he say:

* it would take many years to adjust to a no-deal Brexit, and build the infrastructure and customs checks that would be needed
* the economic adjustment to no-deal could take many years
* companies which rely on trade with the EU would have to significantly lower their costs, to overcome the frictional costs, or find new markets
* He also predicted that the economic adjustment to no-deal could take many years

There we have - all options are worse than to remain. There is not much to say about May's deal (Brino) except that it is better than no deal, and no deal is disastrously bad.

Leavers should be incandescent about this. Every one of them voted no deal and yet the party negotiating for them says that it is a barrow load of turds.

However, I have to say that he has done a magnificent job. In one fell swoop he has also managed to piss off Remainers and no doubt more than a few of those who did not vote, referendum wise, but will still have a vote in a general election.

Well it was about time that he worked out that undermining May for the last 2 years has just sharpened the stake for his heart!

Well now, things have moved on. Thus far we have had Remain, Remain minus (May's deal), Brexit (WTO) Norway, EEA, EFTA, Canada +, Canada ++, Canada (add + signs as req) and now we have the new kid on the block.... wait for it..... Norway +.

If we ever get another referendum it will be one hell of a ballot paper.

No need for 100 options. Still two questions.

Do you still want to Remain.

Done. After all the shenanigans that have gone on, option 1 means any and all options up to and including hard Brexit. Remain means everything from Remain no matter how damaging to "I just don't like what they are saying or doing to deliver Brexit".

No need to confuse the poor sheeple. If they vote Leave again now, they know what the options are and they know that, badly handled, we could be worse off. At least in the short run.

If we have a second referendum that should be made 100% clear and then let's see how the people feel.

I wonder if anyone ever considered that if we have a second referendum, where Hard Brexit is on the table, that those who are totally infuriated with Brexit can have a say.

If they don't deliver Brexit now and try to have a second referendum Mrs S and I will probably have our say too as the Democratic deficiency will need to be restored and that has little to do with Brexit.
