Talk about distorting the news.

Postby Workingman » 18 Jan 2019, 17:06

Sky has the following headline:

'Frenzy of hatred': The dramatic rise of far-right extremists.

It is click bait, but the message is delivered. Far-right white males are 'the' problem, and to back that up the police are arresting more whites than Asians.

However, if you stick with the article it turns out that 80% of cases relate to Islamist threats to the West Midlands. Further reading tells us that about a fifth are 'probably' extreme right-wing cases.

It is an interesting use of figures. 80% v 1/5 makes the smaller figure seem larger, where 4/5 v 20% makes latter figure seem smaller. it is an old trick. Supermarkets use a similar tactic with product prices. One item is 55p per 100g where another will be £5.20 per 1kg. The first is more expensive, but at a glance it looks cheaper.

The reason why more whites are arrested is never explained, but police up and down the country have form here. Rochdale, Oxford, Oldham, Rotherham and Huddersfield are all big cases where little or no action was taken against Asian gangs until the police were forced, one hand up their backs, to do so.

I have absolutely no sympathy for any terrorists, none at all, but articles like Sky's do not help and could push some of those on the margins to the far-right. It is a dangerous game they play.

Meanwhile more Asian men are arrested in west Yorkshire for historical sex offences against young girls - fifty five of them!
It will be interesting to see if their trial gets reported of if "reporting restrictions" will be deployed again.

The main stream media are effectively a propaganda arm of the politicians these days. "Progressive" policies have given us diversity and diversity, say the politicians is all good. Well, very few things in life are all good. But the public sector insist that diversity is 100% wonderful. So when they are presented with evidence that it isn't 100% wonderful they have a choice. Admit that it isn't or suppress, deny and intimidate. and invariably, they choose the second option.

The playing up of "right wing extremism" is a case in point. It is done to try and deflect attention away from Islamic extremism. I think the body count in this country shows pretty well where the threat comes from, but the MSM are being used to mitigate that by the "right wing extremism" storyline.

Yes there are right wing terrorists, but usually these people consist of two skinheads and a pit bull terrier, and of the three the dog has the most brains. The propaganda will roll on though.

I did wonder if anyone would respond as the subject is so toxic, so thank you Cromwell.

The latest story is that the Border Force has 'escorted' a group of 'suspected migrants' ashore in Kent. Eight people in a dinghy.

Why doesn't the media describe them correctly as illegal immigrants as that is what they are under international law. It is that or they are bogus asylum seekers. If they were genuine they could have legally caught a ferry and declared their status once on dry land - no human traffickers and no dinghies needed, and all the better if they had some paperwork.

There is no need to attempt to fly under the radar if you are genuine, and that is the message we should be shouting out loud and clear.

It's an important subject. Imo the ordinary people of this country still believe in fairness and free speech. The people at the top (and this includes the media) imo do not.

WM, I would have replied but I'm currently on holiday in Scotland and am only sporadically replying.

I would have replied in very much the same way Cromwell did. I also agree totally with the last post.

How much you will understand how I feel in France. Our small town (circa 4,500 people), has some 50 "Asylum seekers" who have been allocated to us by the government. They are fed, paid for and medically looked after by the taxes of the French people. They can't work because they refuse to apply for asylum in France.

So what are they doing? They spend all day either applying for Asylum in the UK or waiting for a response to that application.

We have a woman in the town who is not French, nor British, but speaks excellent English. She spends her whole time calling them "Asylum Seekers" and is teaching them English to help them get to Britain "where they belong"....

Happy days.

And there is the madness of it all. If they applied for asylum in France, and were accepted, they could then quite legally come to the UK or go anywhere else. The French authorities should be telling them that, but I suspect they are afraid that once asylum is granted the refugees might decide to stay in France.

If we stayed in the EU we might actually do that. But Asylum does not give citizenship automatically and, so, would not give them the right to cross the UK border. if we had Schengen, yes, but without it, no.

The whole thing is broken and insane. It is no wonder the Italians want nothing to do with it, because they have to host them indefinitely as they try again and again to gain asylum in the UK or Germany.

I doubt anything will be resolved any time soon..

Oops! I also forgot that the UK, Denmark and Ireland have opt-outs from EU residency rules and secondary movements. Ah well, the asylum seekers will just have to follow the French rules to gaining citizenship. They could sign up for a CAI to try to speed things up. Still, if they are genuine, the conditions will be light years better than where they came from.
