StarBUCKS.

Postby Workingman » 02 Dec 2012, 18:59

It is in talks with HMRC over its tax position.

I do not know what its coffee is like as I have never been in one, so I cannot boycott it, but it has done nothing "legally" wrong as far as I can see.

If there is any blame to be laid anywhere it is with our tax system. Some of the highly paid staff in HMRC should be looking at how it operates and report immediately to government. They should identify loopholes to be closed and avoidance schemes to be shut down, then the government can introduce laws to do so.

Yes and then we can watch businesses leaving the UK, making their employees unemployed, so that the state can pay more to keep them on benefits than they currently get in taxes.

Stupid is as Stupid does.......

I quite like their coffee, but then I don't like strong coffee....

That depends on whether you like the stuff they sell in Italy, France, Spain etc....

I don't. So Starbucks does me just fine..... I prefer it to Costa too.

So Starbucks has decided to cough up. Good.

These multi-national companies bluff and bluster, but in the end they would rather give up a bit of tax in favour of losing £400 in sales.

Time to go after others... companies and individuals.

If I can, I use independent shops rather that the likes of Starbucks and Costa, but if there is no independent ones around I would go for Costa every time........and I heard on the radio this morning that they are British. I had no idea.
