1. A Venezuelan Navy coastguard cutter hailed a cruise liner in international waters accusing it of violating territorial waters. The cruise liner ignored it. The gunboat then fired shots at it. The cruise liner ignored it. Finally, in an attempt to get the cruise ship to change direction, the coastguard cutter rammed it. :o

What the Venezuelan Navy gunboat captain had possibly not realised was that this wasn't any old cruise ship, it was a cruise ship with a specially reinforced hull for Antarctic waters.

The Navy gunboat sank!

2. An engine driver employed in the Port of Los Angeles took exception to the docking of the US Navy hospital ship "Mercy" there. He thought the ship had an alternative purpose to the treatment of Covid-19 cases, and believed it was part of a Government take-over plot.

Accordingly, he fired up his locomotive, and drove it straight off the end of the tracks aiming it at the ship. Apparently, he got to around 250 yards from the ship before the engine ground to a halt.

Nobody was hurt, but he has been charged with one count of train wrecking. It is not known if he has an attorney …...

Ossie, having spent a week in Caracas to attend a wedding then two days in a hotel on the way back from Argentina, this does not surprise me in the slightest.

When getting on a flight took 6 hours interspersed with testosterone poisoning and rocket propelled idiocy taking off from where sheer incompetence started, I have no illusions about the sanity of the Venezuelan Navy commanders or the competency of their crews...

As for America, they love a conspiracy theory. I do too, but it has to be a really, really Good conspiracy theory.
