When I so saw all those PM in a queue the other day at Westminster I immediately thought
Well that won't last long
Today in the DM I read Boris wants to cut the distance to a meter
Who in,there right mind is going to queue for hours to shop especially in bad weather
It's crazy the way this government is making rules even allowing that demonstration yesterday but that's another matter

As I understand it, halving the distance to 1 metre doubles the possibility of infection but even then it is very, very small if you are just passing by or not lingering together for long. This thing really is a lottery.
We have had the lady painter and other workmen in the house all week. Are we social distancing? Well yes, to an extent, but it is difficult (cups of tea, paint chart decisions, so on). We're not using face masks or anything like that. In fairness, the plumber did last week, but nobody else did.
People (especially the younger generations) are blasé about it now, the demonstrations are the proof of that. I think you just have to take a calculated risk - and if your name's on the bullet, so be it.

Six seconds at 1m = 15 mins at 2m, so said the science.
The virus is said to be able to survive 'for up to 72 hours' on some surfaces or is that five days, seven says or 28 days? It all depends on the surface, the concentration, the temperature and humidity, the amount of UV light. Various labs say different things so in reality it is a lottery.
The only things they generally agree on is that coronaviruses can be inactivated within a minute by disinfecting surfaces with 62-71% alcohol, or 0.5% hydrogen peroxide bleach or household bleach containing 0.1% sodium hypochlorite.
Washing hands regularly still seems to be your best first defence. We might as well give up on all the rest ....
