Live webcam action of the Geldingadalur volcano eruption near Reykjavik in Iceland, which is linked from Jón Frímann Jónsson's superb website on Icelandic geology:

There was a helicopter visible earlier doing a flypast of the new cones.

There was a bit about this several weeks/months ago. It talked about how it was likely to be a low pressure out flowing of lava rather than an explosive opening.

Seems they were right.

Oh that's incredible! :D :D

My cousin lives in Taormina in Sicily, and has a great view of Etna from their balcony. It's been fairly active lately. I'll see if I can find the photos she posted on FB >>>>>>

Blimey, I wouldn't like to live that close to a volcano like Etna either, Kaz!

I suppose your cousin just takes it in her stride .... :?

Once did a refuelling stop near Reggio Calabria on the toe of Italy en route to a detachment at Decimomanuu in Sardinia and the ever smoking Etna was impressive even from that distance. Taormina is a bit too close for my liking. :o :o :o

Isn't there supposed to be some monster trapped down there by Zeus or some other god?
