I mean we could turn off a few lights in a few cities around the world to show solidarity with planet Earth and save it from us. Why not? It's a lot easier than doing practical things and it makes the SJW among us feel all cuddly and warm inside.

Will we do the hard things? No way, we have our comfortable, consumerist lives to lead!

Have a play with the years. Once that line hits 1.0, forget 0 and we're in Arctic Blue Ocean territory in summer. I could go and calculate the amount of energy hitting the ocean, even in one week, from a BOE (Blue Ocean Event), but it's not worth it. It could be calculated out in Hiroshima style nuclear bombs, but, even then, for those who don't know, it is also not really revealing.

All it tells us is, we're screwed and we're not really doing anything to un-screw ourselves.

This view of CO2 over the last 800,000 years is just one example of where we are.

But the bigger picture is where we are going in the short term and how it adds to that pinnacle. Regardless of the Kyoto, Copenhagen or Paris accords.

In this case ppm (parts per million), makes heat in the atmosphere. It may not get you this decade or the next, but it will, eventually, get you.
