No more mother-in-law jokes.

Or father-in-law jokes, Irish jokes [English if you are Irish], gay jokes [straight ones if you are gay], ginger jokes, freckles jokes, tall jokes, short jokes, fat jokes and thin jokes. No jokes allowed if they "offend".

No tranny beard jokes BBC

We have lost it. There was a time when even the "victims" laughed. The jokes were a relief valve where the real "holders" of the views expressed were the ones being laughed at and had their views diminished.

We now take things at such face value that nuances are lost. When two blokes square up for a fight and one says "I am going to kill you" it is not a real threat, it is synonymous with "I am going to win".

RIP humour in all its forms.

Peter Kay is funny. Apart from that you'd be struggling to name one.
Jokes are a part of life but the rise of the professionally offended person looks to be putting them at risk.
People who get offended on behalf of other people are the worst.

I don't tell jokes any more. I listen to jokes and I don't laugh. Nobody is going to know what I think about these "sensitive" subjects when they meet me casually as I don't discuss these things F2F.

What it will do is drive the "haters" underground and they will become much smarter about how they hate. That doesn't make society fairer or better. It makes society much more dangerous!

I was reading today that some people want to ban the word "curry" because it has echoes of British Imperialism and was used by 'white people' because they were too lazy to use the real terms.

Well done that 'influencer' you have just influenced this white British lazy male to use the word 'curry' more often. And I will continue to use all the Greek, Gaelic, Latin, French, Italian, German and other words that have been assimilated to make up our beautiful language. I notice she used English as her language of choice to get her woke point across, oh the irony.

There will be one of two outcomes. First they achieve their stupid goals and we turn into a totally repressed and far more violent society. Second the run of the mill people become so hacked off with it that they get off their jacksie and start working out who is funding this drivel and start denying them their money. At which point those who put money behind it will run for the hills leaving the "wokes" up the creek without a paddle.

Either way I will be practising the ultimate in schadenfreude!

You are inciting people to violence as "hacking" usually involves a tool such as an axe.
Also calling a section of people who may be hard working citezens wanting funding without proof.
And finally how do you know they have not got a paddle. The vessel may have an outboard motor.

Ah well. Hacking is one thing. Hacked off is an entirely different thing. As for hard working citizens, those who fund this kind of thing work very, very, hard. They just don't work hard for you and me.

I should have been far more generic. Up the creek lacking motive power! :D
