Norway has an election today

And Brexit will have a much larger impact on this election than it will have on the German federal elections on Sunday.

This is the part where we see some of the reasoning behind the EU hard stance with the UK during Brexit. Because whilst there is a new wind blowing through the politics of Northern Europe, namely the sound of ties loosening to Brussels, the hardline stance of Brussels, with the UK, has set the barrier very high. This has reduced the rhetoric and keeps things down to earth and only allows real issues to come to the ballot box.

But this is only the beginning of the story. Much as Farage and UKIP gaining seats in Brussels and, slowly, chipping away at the coat of shining armour called the EU integration, politicians in Norway will, almost certainly, start challenging the accepted wisdom that Norway just does what the EU says and that all will be well.

Hopefully the EU will have learned from the 2016 debacle (certainly they admitted that they dropped the ball when dealing with Cameron). But there are not guarantees there.

Whilst little will change, on the face of it, today. Things have already changed behind the scenes and the political landscape in Norway is going to be a much more "stimulating" environment.

I'm sure the press will introduce their own poison at the same time.

I'm sure the Norwegians will bring their stolid common sense to the fore. However their patience for the status quo is thin and some change is going to happen.
